Shirley Ann Walters Carnes, 85, of Pageland, SC passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026. She was born on December 2, 1940, in Pageland, South Carolina to the late Henry W. Walters and Zudie Threatt Walters. She is also predeceased by her sister, Janice Walters Baker.

Shirley married the love of her life, Billy Carnes Jr. and together they built a life filled with joy and purpose for over 65 years. They were blessed with two children, Billy Carnes III, with his wife Geraldine, of Pageland, SC, and Edwina Moody, with her husband Rod, of Ruby, SC. She is survived by her siblings, Doris Price of Hartsville, SC, and Judy Huntley, with her husband Billy, of Mt. Gilead, NC. Shirley's heart swelled with pride for her grandchildren, Jonathon Lloyd, with his wife Casey, of Lancaster, SC, and Anthony Thomas Carnes of Pageland, SC. She would cheer them on at baseball games and celebrating their achievements. Her great-grandchildren, Weston Lloyd Carnes and Caroline Ruth Carnes, brought her immeasurable joy.

She enjoyed cooking for her loved ones, and sewing beautiful things. Her selflessness was evident in the way she cared for her mother in her final years, never once complaining and always putting the needs of others before her own.

The family would like to especially thank Haley, Michelle and Ruth with Agape Hospice for their wonderful care.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Providence Baptist Church.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Providence Baptist Church with Pastor David Bridwell and Dr. Roger Wall officiating. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park of Pageland, SC.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church C/O Missions, 232 Providence Church Road, Pageland, SC, 29728, Agape Hospice or to a church of one's choice.
