CSM (ret.) Terrence "Terry" Robert Timney, 80, of Pageland, SC passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 in Lancaster, SC.
Mr. Terrence "Terry" Timney was born on April 4, 1940 in Akron, OH to the late Ronald Timney and Joen Brock Timney. He graduated from Druid Hills High School, Druid Hills, GA. Terry served our country in the US Army, while serving two tours of duty in Vietnam and receiving the Bronze Star. He later worked in the tire industry in Columbia, SC, where he met and married DeLaine Byrd and they had two sons. He joined the SC National Guard and eventually went to work for them full time. He was stationed in Columbia, SC; Worms, Germany; and Ft. Lewis, WA where he retired as a Command Sergeant Major. He returned to Columbia and went back to work in the tire industry. Terry worked for a company that specialized in tire retreading for 3 1/2 years and traveled the United States (all of the lower 48) in a 5th wheel camper. Terry retired and settled with his wife in Pageland, SC. He volunteered with the SC Baptist Disaster Relief team, made deliveries for Screwmatics, INC and delivered cars for a couple of car dealers before retiring for the final time. Terry loved to fish, especially in Canada, with his son, Troy; brother, Tom; and Pennsylvania cousins, Jim Roskosh and Pete Nolen. Terry enjoyed traveling; Grand Prix racing; Ohio State, University of South Carolina and Cleveland Browns football. Most of all, Terry loved his family and was grateful he got to know his nine grandchildren (including two grandsons-in-law) and two great grandchildren. Terry loved people and enjoyed spending time with his friends that he made in Pageland, especially the breakfast group at Beth's.
Mr. Timney is survived by his wife, DeLaine Timney; sons, Troy Timney and Brian Timney (Kendra); grandchildren, Missy Sikes (Clay), Brantley Daniels (Jay), Tammy Timney, Terra Timney, Sadie Timney, Jack Timney, and Mahala Timney; brother, Tom Timney (Evie); nephews, Charles Timney (Marie) and Sean Timney (Melissa); sister-in-law, Gloria Landrum (Robert); nieces, Susan McCarthy (Dan) and Nancy Robnett (James) and a number of great nieces and great nephews.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC with Dr. Joel Dale officiating. Burial to follow in the cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Baumgartner Funeral Home, Pageland, SC.
