Walter McCartha Brodie, 76, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at his home. Born in Charleston, SC, he was the son of the late Oliver Johnson Brodie and Mary Ellen McCartha Brodie. He was a graduate of Baptist College (now Charleston Southern University) and earned his MBA at the University of South Carolina. Mr. Brodie was a U.S. Navy Veteran and the owner of The Brodie Agency. Survivors include his wife, Ann Kennington Brodie; brother, Furman Brodie (Jean); sister-in-law, Pamela Kennington, brother-in-law John Kennington (Meridy), sister-in-law Betsy Kennington Good (Steve), brother-in-law David Kennington (Diane), brother-in-law Scott Kennington (Barbara); numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and beloved dog Clementine. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Porter Kennington. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 12, at First Baptist Church Cemetery, Pageland, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist School, Brodie Scholarship, 48 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401. Sullivan-King Mortuary in Anderson, SC and Baumgartner Funeral Home in Pageland, SC is serving the Brodie family.
