Obituary

William Lee Youngblood, Sr., 65, of Pageland, SC, died Friday, February 8, 2013, of Leukemia. He is survived by his wife, Elisabeth Cordes Youngblood; daughter and son-in-law, Heather Youngblood Spencer and Dustin William Spencer, of Pageland, SC; son and daughter-in-law, William Lee Youngblood, Jr., and Leah Youngblood of York, SC; daughter, Faith Lee Youngblood of Pageland, SC; grandchildren, Gabriel William Spencer of Pageland, SC; and William Connor Youngblood of York, SC; mother-in-law, Monique Cordes of Augusta, GA; brother- and sister-in-law, John Owen, Sr., and Lois Cordes Owen of Augusta, GA; nieces and nephews, John Owen, Jr., Cordes Owen, and Carter Monique Owen, MD; and beloved dog Princess. He was predeceased by his father, James Acker Youngblood; his mother, Marianna Wise Youngblood; and his father-in-law, Alexander Watson Cordes. Mr. Youngblood attended Augusta College and the University of South Carolina School of Law. He honorably served the State of South Carolina as assistant solicitor and deputy solicitor for the Fourth Judicial Circuit for more than 10 years. Since 1974, he maintained a private law practice in Pageland, practicing many areas of law including criminal defense, civil, family, and transactional law. He zealously advocated on behalf of his clients, earning the respect of those he helped as well as his peers. He previously served on the school board of the Chesterfield County School District. He was a member of Shriners International and of Zion United Methodist Church. Mr. Youngblood was a member of the Pageland Lion's Club since 1974, serving as Club President during 1980-1981 and 1990-1991 and a Tail Twister for 20 years. A Memorial Service will take place at Zion United Methodist Church, 671 Zion Church Road, Pageland, SC, at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. The Revs. Athon Arant and Robin Griffeth will officiate. Gary Whitlock, Dr. Bic Blakeney, Donald Rowell, Frank Patterson, Wayne Haas, and Benjamin Sullivan will serve as honorary pallbearers.
